Pillbug Extension for Hive

The Pillbug is a new expansion piece for the HIVE strategy board game. It can be added to a standard HIVE set and is placed in the game in exactly the same way as the other pieces. The package includes two pairs of the isopod, one for the regular version of the game and one for the pocket version. The isopod moves like the Queen Bee, taking one step at a time but has an additional Special Ability, which it can use instead of moving. The Special Ability allows it to move any adjacent piece two steps: one directly above it and one to any empty adjacent space to it. Exceptions: The Isopod cannot move a piece that has just been moved by the opponent. The Isopod cannot move a piece that is on a stack. The Isopod cannot move a piece if the Single Cell Rule is violated.
